Sorry it’s been a while. I had a break from writing my regular blog as I felt like I was repeating myself most weeks. The whole being healthy during the week and falling off the wagon at the weekend becomes a little tedious.

I’ve decided to check in with you guys as a couple of people have been asking for the blog to make a comeback (which is really lovely) and I wanted to tell you all about Sweaty Betty Live šŸŽ‰

On Saturday, I jumped on a train and headed to that London to attend the Sweaty Betty event. I didn’t have a clue what to expect other than fit people in fit gym gear. The event was over three floors and was on such a larger scale to what I thought it would be. Girls were queuing everywhere! For their classes, for their hair braided, for their nails to be painted, even the queues for the toilets were long.

I took part in a Frame class which was SO much fun. Myself and Anna booked onto the Kylie Butt Lift class because you know, we’ll do anything to prevent a saggy butt and we squatted and hip thrusted our way through all Kylies classics.

There were beauty bars where ladies could get facials or manicures, food stalls serving pretty much anything you can think of that’s plant based and of course a cheeky little 20% off Sweaty Betty gym gear which is really bloody lovely when it is at the higher end of the gym wear market. It was all super healthy and you could tell everyone was there for a good workout with their pals. Of course we managed to find the stall that sold sparkling Rose and so treated ourselves after our workout.

If you follow my instagram you’ll have probably noticed I have been posting about Grenade a lot recently. I’ve just started working with them on their affiliate programme which is perfect as I constantly chomp on their bars and treat myself to their shakes! I genuinely don’t know how they make them so tasty. I’ve been able to try their other products too which are equally as good. I have a super giant tub of strawberry protein which literally tastes like a strawberry milkshake (I might actually mix it with milk one time, I bet it’s even better).

I very rarely use pre workout but on Sunday morning I gave it a go before my deadlift session and it certainly woke me up. It’s not something I’ll use all the time but I now know it’s there for when I need that extra buzz. I may try it when I next bench, that seems to be stuck at the moment which is a little frustrating.

When I opened my Grenade parcel I also received their white chocolate spread! Now if you’ve tried it before you’ll know what I’m on about when I say I’ve had to hide it on my top shelf so I don’t take a spoon to it every time I open the cupboard door. It’s delicious but a little bit naughty.

Monday morning had me craving something sweet after the weekend and so I decided to make protein pancakes for my breakfast. Bev who I train with has her Ignite ebook which is full of healthy recipes and so I had a little look and stole the pancake recipe from her. I did alter it slightly to suit me better and obviously I had to top my pancakes with the white choc cookie spread šŸ’ŖšŸ¼.

The recipe made 5 pancakes. So you could cut it down if you only want 2 or 3, I shared my breakfast with my mum ā˜ŗļø.

I used:

20g of oats

Small banana

1 egg

100g egg whites

25g vanilla protein

10g of Dr Zaks powdered peanut butter (I would add more next time to increase the flavour, or you can top your pancakes with a spoonful of peanut butter rather than the chocolate spread)

10g of Grenade white chocolate spread

Macros for this recipe are

Carb – 37g

Fat – 11g

Protein – 48g

438 calories for 5 pancakes.

*there was tea in that mug, I haven’t just put an empty cup there for the picture.*

Mix all the ingredients apart from the chocolate spread in a blender.

Heat your pan and use a teaspoon of coconut oil.

Pour in your mixture, once the pancake is bubbling flip it over. Pancakes should only take about a minute either side. Place on a plate and put in the oven on a low heat to keep it warm whilst you make more pancakes. Repeat until the mixture is gone. You may end up making more pancakes than me, you may make less, it just depends on the amount you pour each time.

Once stacked add your topping! Honey or Nutella would also work šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

Even though I haven’t been blogging about it my training has been consistent. Squats are still my favourite and I’m enjoying my 5×10 rep sessions in some weird way. We’ve been increasing the weight each week by 2.5kg, my legs are absolutely battered by the last 10 reps. I’ll try and follow it with some paused squats at 60kg too just to finish me off good and proper.

I am going to carry on with my blog, though it won’t be a weekly thing anymore. I want to make sure it’s interesting and I’m writing because something fun has happened. I might even write when things are a little bit shitty, so long as I think people will enjoy reading it that’s all that matters. In a couple of weeks time I’ll start my 12 week training programme towards my next competition and will probably want to document it more so watch this space. Sorry again for going MIA.

Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and are ready to smash the week ahead.

I’m back on the wagon. We’ve finally started to get everything arranged for France so knowing there’s a chance I’m going to be in a bikini in a few weeks means my head is well and truly down. We’re going to watch Danny lift for GB in Bordeaux and we’ve decided to make it a road trip, so instead of flying we’re going to be driving all that way for three bench presses. Yep, all that way for 3 lifts! I’m sure there will be some partying involved too šŸ˜.

If you follow my instagram you’ll have seen that on Thursday I had the chance to head to V1be in Manchester to take part in My Proteins Summer in the City event which was fab. I felt a little out of place at the beginning, being surrounded by body builders, basketball players and ice skaters all at the top of their game and then there was me. Relatively new to anything like this and nowhere near where I want to be yet but I did give it a good go. Of course I picked up heavy weights to start like Billy big bollocks and was absolutely shattered by the time we got to round three. I’m used to high weight low rep and the session we completed on Thursday was as many reps as possible followed by a quick sprint on the treadmill. Easy šŸ™ƒ I know I’ve been running with my mum but this session was a totally different ball game. I was having to really push myself to keep up with the others. So if you manage to catch the videos or pictures of the event and see a short girl dying in the corner. THATS ME šŸ˜†.

Thank you My Protein for the CUTE two pieces we wore. It felt good to not wear black whilst working out for once. I also picked up my new fave water bottle which makes me feel like I’m on Love Island šŸ¤£.

Training has been pretty easy this week (famous last words), the only thing I’m still struggling with is my bench press. I feel like I always hit a wall with this lift and it takes me a while to get over it. I’m just going to have to keep grafting and I’m sure you’ll all be the first to know when I hit my target.

I made it to Sunday Squats yesterday which made me super happy. I’ve missed so many sessions with having my weekends packed with weddings etc so it was really nice to get back into a routine. I tried out more volume work this week, 70kg for 6x10s which worked up a bit of a sweat. Just going to gradually increase this each week and see where I get to. Squats are still my favourite šŸ’šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

We raced for our lives šŸ’—

Yesterday myself and my mum crossed the finish line at Heaton Parks Cancer Research UK Race for Life in 37 minutes and I could not be more proud of her!

It was baking hot and we’ve never run up so many hills before but we did it and we did it together! I felt so emotional crossing that finish line. Reading everyone’s signs with the names of who they’re running for just shows how many people are affected by cancer! Everyone who took part this weekend and at all the other CR UK events over the summer have smashed it! Raising vital funding for research into something so close to many peoples hearts! Thank you to everyone who sponsored us. We’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of people who have donated!

The race was even more of a struggle as both myself and my mum had events on the Saturday where we were both drinking quite a lot so we certainly sweat out the alcohol on Sunday morning jogging in the heat! It was probably the best thing for us to be fair.

Thanks again Cancer Research UK for inviting us to talk before heading to the starting line to set off all the wonderful women in pink! It’s a day I’ll never forget.

Ive really enjoyed this week in the gym. We’ve switched up my routine a bit and focused a little more on my bench press as it’s the lift that doesn’t seem to be moving much at the moment. I can push 65kg but struggle to keep my bum on the bench so giving it a bit more attention will hopefully see those numbers increase.

I’m still not standing on the scales. I do feel a little fluffy this morning after a weekend of weddings (of course I had to eat Wills sticky toffee pudding as well as mine) but I’m not getting back into the routine of standing on the scales every morning. It really dictated what kind of day I would have and that’s not cool.

On Monday evening I made Lo Dough pizzas for the family which were delicious if I may say so myself!

Of course I put prawns on mine, it’s all I eat at the moment, I added tuna for that extra protein too šŸ¤“ My base was passata and mozzarella. For anyone interested the macros for this specific pizza was C – 4.3g, F – 12.6g, P – 60.8g and come in at 394 calories šŸ’ŖšŸ¼šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼. Winning!!

I’ve had such a sweet tooth since coming back off holiday and now the giant Toblerone I bought in duty free has finally been scoffed I’ve been looking for healthier alternatives to get my sugar fix. I’ve recently tried Whey Heys chocolate peanut brownies (popped in the microwave for 20 seconds) topped with their mini tubs of salted caramel ice cream. It does exactly what I want it to do and is only 261 calories. C – 17.8g, F – 12.9g and P – 20.1g. So that’s a pizza for dinner followed by a brownie and ice cream for desert for under 700 calories!! You can thank me later šŸ˜.

Happy Monday ā˜€ļø

I’ve had a pretty hectic week! I make sure I fill my time up with fun things so I don’t notice that I don’t actually work šŸ˜¬. I am spending money I’m not making though which is starting to become a little scary. I’m so glad my mum and dad are retired otherwise I’d be lost. Having them around to do things with during the week is so lovely. Having friends with full time jobs is rubbish.

Me and my mum have still kept up with the jogging. Race for life is this Sunday and I have no doubt we’re going to sale through it. I can’t believe how into the football I am. I genuinely want nothing more than for England to bring it home. This weather and the football scores have put people in such brilliant moods. I love it!

My brilliant moods are usually when I’m eating good food and on Thursday I had the opportunity to go to Lo Dough HQ to try out some of their delicious recipes. If you haven’t heard of Lo Dough before then check them out here low calorie pizza base ā¬…ļø It’s a fantastic alternative to the high carb wraps you would normally buy in your local supermarket. Lo Dough wraps only have 2.2g of carb and they fill you up perfectly. They can be used as quiche and pizza bases too and are only 39 calories, what’s not to like?!?!? Make sure you check out the recipe page on their website and have a go at making something yourself, I’m going to give some of the pizzas a go this week.

This weekend has been madness. I travelled down to London on Saturday for London Pride, jumped back on a train home for my friends 30th and then volunteered at the NW champs powerlifting competition on Sunday, so it’s been really difficult to stay on track with my meals. I’ve also not been weighing myself recently as I’ve become a little bit obsessed with it and it certainly isn’t good for me. So it’s quite nice to say I haven’t the foggiest what I weigh at the moment. I feel good though and that’s all that matters.

Before the weekend began though, myself and Danny (my PT) went into St Micheal’s Primary School in Heywood to talk about powerlifting. It was a really positive afternoon and the kids seemed to be interested. They all had questions about how and why we compete in the sport and it made me reflect on how much I actually get from powerlifting. The discipline that comes with it and the challenges I face, not just on competition days but every time I walk into the gym.

Look at how awkward I am talking to a room of kids šŸ˜‚. Not going to lie the majority were taller than me.

London Pride was incredible, I can’t thank the fabulous Mental Health First Aid charity enough for inviting me to march with them. It’s something I will never ever forget! The crowds were huge and I was so honoured to have the opportunity to walk alongside the LGBT community šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆā¤ļø.

Finally having the chance to volunteer at a NW comp opened my eyes to the amount of hard work that goes into putting these events on. My job for the day was making sure everyone’s walk on music played as they was taking to the platform. I also had a go at MCing whilst the guys were benching. You’d think with me being an actress I’d be good at that sort of thing… absolutely not. I stumbled over my words and kept getting things wrong šŸ™ˆ. Crumbled under pressure which is the story of my life really.

I’ve realised I’ve come to the end of my blog and haven’t even spoken about training. I did upload a video of a typical leg day for me in the gym onto my instagram, so if you haven’t seen that then make sure you have a gander. Hopefully I’ll be uploading more videos like this in the future.

How lovely is this weather! Imagine if it stayed like this for the rest of summer, it would be so good. Everyone’s much more happier and chilled out, only time I get aggy is when I’m going to bed and my room is like an oven.

I’ve been out running with my mum quite a few times the past week. We are up and out by 6:30 so it’s still lovely and cool, little bit worried that on the day of Race for Life it’s going to be 28 degrees and we’ll puffing and panting having not ran in the heat. I’ve surprised myself at how easy I’ve found it and (because it’s easy) i really enjoy running. I like anything when it’s easy. We’ve started off with a couple of 3k’s then a 4K and finally yesterday morning, after quite a heavy day of food and alcohol Saturday so we were both expecting to be a bit shit smashed 5k. I know that on the day the Race for Life will feel so much shorter too as everyone spurs each other on and we’ll feel so motivated to do well. I genuinely can’t wait to run it with my mum. Now I’d be a liar if I said my diets been good this week. I excelled myself at my cousins 21st birthday party, I don’t think I moved from the buffet once šŸ½. I have a friends wedding coming up in a couple of weeks though and I’ve set myself a little mini goal for then so I’ve got something to work towards. I find sticking to a plan so so difficult when I don’t have a competition in the diary, and I don’t intend on competing until the end of the year either. I am still weight training 3/4 times a week but it’s nice to have no pressure. Though with there being no pressure in the gym I feel like there’s no pressure outside the gym and my eating definitely needs to be pulled back in.

The week following my holiday I thought I was going to be a bit crap in training but I was certainly fuelled by pasta and ham and cheese toasties (did you even go on holiday if you didn’t have a ham and cheese toasty) and my 110kg deadlift for 3x3s felt good. Squats we dropped back down to 95kg for 5x5s and they were pretty smooth too, just my belt is tighter now and so it kept nipping me šŸ™ˆ. I refuse to loosen it! There’s another incentive to reign it in on the snacks.

This weekend has been mental, myself and Will haven’t stopped! We had a charity night for the fabulous Blazing Saddles who are cycling from Oldham to Gibraltar for a number of wonderful charities! They managed to raise over Ā£10,000 on Friday evening which is mega!! (There was a three course meal involved). Saturday morning we drove to Leicester to a place called Armourgedon so I could drive a tank!! It was my birthday present off Will and I was in my element, I loved every second of it! We then drove straight back up to Bury to my uncles for my cousins 21st birthday where (like I said before) I didn’t leave the buffet. Costco birthday cake is INSANELY good! Sunday morning we had bagels for breakfast round at Wills sisters followed by a tonne of pimms and ice cream at Tottys Big Day Out. We may have also drank that much we couldn’t be bothered cooking so ordered a Chinese!

I’m writing all this because I want people to know that what I put out on Instagram is the best points of my life. I’m not all diets and exercise, I very much enjoy myself and eat what I want (I struggle with the ‘in moderation’ part, that’s a work in progress). I feel there’s a lot of pressure on teenagers and young adults to look a certain way but I promise you so long as you’re healthy and having fun that is all that matters! We all compare ourselves to certain people we see on instagram, when really we should just focus on being the best possible version of ourselves! I’m guilty of only showing pictures of myself where I feel I look my best but please know for that one photo uploaded to Instagram there’s 50 others that I was certainly not happy with šŸ¤£.

This could not be more fitting for me today. Holiday is officially over!

I know it’s never a good idea to start a diet on a Monday but today is the perfect day to sort my shit out. I hate calling it a diet too, it’s not a diet. I’m just adding more veggies and getting rid of the ice cream and sweets I’ve been indulging in for the last week.

I’m going to track my food properly on My Fitness Pal and really get back into the swing of things. Holidays are bloody lovely but i am craving some sort of normality.

I felt alien to the Village gym today. Gaining a little bit of weight made me really self conscious too which is silly. I felt like everyone who i regularly see was probably saying ‘bloody hell have you seen Jazz, she’s put some pudding on’ when actually they probably didn’t give a hoot and I was just being paranoid. If you can go on holiday and not come back fluffier I think you’re incredible haha.

The moment I started lifting weights though that fear disappeared and it was like I’d never been away. I’m talking like I’ve not lifted a weight in 6 months. It’s been 6 days but it feels like it’s been ages! I got right back into the swing of it and fitted back into the gym environment perfectly. We trained chest and i started off with a comfortable 52.5kg for 5×5 and then loads of accessory work which is my fave I also hit the stair master just to shift this holiday weight a little quicker šŸ˜„.

I tried to keep up with training in Tenerife, honestly but that gym was awful and I HATE training on my own. I did try and get Will to come down with me but he was having none of it. So I managed to go a whole 3 times out of 7 days which was not the plan but oh well.

Since being home I’ve started running with my mum in preparation for the Race for Life at Heaton Park on the 15th July. She’s doing so well! Mums been out running early in the morning training towards it and can now easily run 5k, I’m looking forward to the big day! We’ve also been asked to start the race which I’m so chuffed about, getting to do something so memorable with my mum is the best! And I can’t thank CRUK enough for giving us this opportunity! I’ll keep this quick because I am on holiday but I will admit today has been super cloudy which I’m not too bothered about as both myself and Will didn’t have the best reaction to last nights Lobster Paella and so we’ve been playing who can make it to the toilet the quickest. At least we’ve fallen ill on the day with the worst weather. That’s a bonus right? šŸ˜–

We have had the best time so far though, it’s been so long since I’ve been away with Will and I’m enjoying it so much. Having time to relax and switch off is so important and I’ve certainly not done that yet this year.

I am training whilst I’m away, i don’t think I’d be able to actually have a week off from the gym. I love it and with me being such an early bird I’m in and out of the gym before the suns even up so it’s perfect. The gym here isn’t the best, few dumbbells and treadmills etc but no squat rack or bench so I’m just having to work with what I’ve got. I’m just focusing on getting sweaty rather than sticking to any specific plan. Tried my best to train chest on Saturday morning, not going to lie I absolutely had to wing it. Even people who sort of know what they’re doing in a gym haven’t a bloody clue sometimes. Decided to try and get some running in whilst I’m here in prep for the Race for Life at Heaton Park too.

As you can see, the gym is very bare. Not like the photos on the website may I add šŸ˜’.

Please don’t think I’m here being all healthy though, I’m a normal girl on her jollies, drinking Sangria by 10am and having crisps for breakfast I just want to keep up with the gym so I don’t feel disgusting when I get back. I’m in the swing of it and I know how easily I fall off the wagon.

One thing I’m really struggling with out here is how bloated I am. Not just my belly either, I feel like my whole body has swollen. I know that sounds dramatic but my face is definitely puffier, I can tell when I take pictures. I know the alcohol and snacks will have something to do with it šŸ™ˆ but even of a morning I’m waking up and my stomach looks like I’m 4 months pregnant, it’s rock hard too and it’s really uncomfortable. Any girls suffer with this? Let me know what you do to get rid please. I’m drinking plenty of water and keeping up with my green tea to try and sort it but it doesn’t seem to be working. There’s got to be some sort of tablets I can take…
